Default Intake Heat Shield Question

Got a dumb question... If you have a heat shield that blocks all air from the engine compartment, the only outside air it could get would be from the little plastic oval snorkel that the original air box was hooked to. Seems like you wouldn't have much better air flow from outside than stock. Do you remove the snorkel too, or leave it in place, or add another air duct, or what?

Default removed snorkle dorkle

I pulled that out and made a fiberglass 'channel' (i kinda got beat up for calling it a ram air device). Check out my prior posts. I thought it helped.
