I just bought an SC300 from a friend of mine who's been in the Supra game for a while now...we're going to go big on this one, but of course time and money are two big limiting factors (duh).

I've got a bunch of TT parts lined up that he's willing to give me to put on the car, I just need to know for certain, what about the TT intake manifolds (greddy in this case) don't mate up to the NA style heads? Hopefully we can just re-flange it and make it fit....

Also, the needles don't light up on my guage cluster, RPM and Speedo don't swing, they just hang dead...any ideas? Anyone have any experience with this kind of stuff?

The steering wheel is like 80 degreees turned to the left when the car is going straight, can I just take it off and re-place it correctly or is there something more sinister at foot? Thec ar has a good alignment, so it's not that...it'll track straight if you let go of the wheel, it's just that "neutral" for the wheel is lopsided.

I apologize for the long noobish post, just got some basic questions. I'm excited to start on my first 2jz project, coming from an STi built setup this should make some good torque

Peace,

~Tim

Hi Newb

FIrst I shall introduce you to the engine/FI room Here is where we will find vast amounts of knowledge - and 2,000 thread titled "I am a newb, turbo questions"

Your tach and speedo being dead is not a very common problem. The motors seem to last forever. They DO FAIL however on rare occasion. If they are both dead, it may be the motors or it may be the board itself. Try sourcing another cluster from a junkyard that will let you plug it in before you buy.

The steering wheel issue is definitely not right. Maybe the mechanic who did the alignment was a foot shorter on his left side.

Ahah, yeah, it's a definate possibility. Here's some pics of my car...I know I know, the "DUB" badge has got to go, and the wheels are attrocious, but hey....I'll be able to take them off and re-sell them for some cash to pay for something more discreet and tasteful.

The pics don't do justice to the interior or color, for whatever reason the coloration is way off in these pictures. It's not really pink, it's that deep metalic red color. www.icsperformance.com/junior.htm

I'm going to pull the whole interior apart this weekend, scrub down the leather with saddle soap, steam clean the carpeting, pull that ghetto sub unit out of the back and get something more tasteful in there. It really is a damned nice car for a '93. I'll get some better hi-res pics once it's all cleaned up.

Dont use saddle soap on leather seats. Use Lexol instead.

I've never had a problem with saddle soap on leather, do you know something I don't?

After more driving, I've realized that the tach and speedo aren't straight up dead. The tach works 99% of the time and the speedo about 60%, but the needles on every guage are completely black. Any suggestions? Does this sound like bad wiring in the harness somewhere or just a dead guage cluster? I'd really love to resolve this, if anyone local has a guage cluster I could test-fit, I could see if that solves it and buy myself another. Thanks,

~Tim
