Default my single turbo sc 400 (progress)

hi
I making single sc400
hardest thing is done. that was chassis preparing for single turbo set up.
under front cross member was to little place to put two pipes from exhaust manifolds to front of car .
So stock alu cross member was machined to clear some space under car. I want full its strenght so we welded alu plates as in pictures.
I made oil return fitting in oil pan too. it is placed in first (bigger) oil pan. we welded alu fitting to alu pan.
must say that removing cross member and bigger alu pan is pain in the a**.
text stage: relocate radiator and AIR radiator more to front of the car (3-4 inches will be enough)
as you can imagine my single turbo (already I have Garrett GT 35 R ball bearing) will be sit between engine and engine radiator. Two pipes from exhaust manifolds (55 mm) will be put under car (in each pipe will be Tial 38 mm wastegate) and meet together in front to turbo. down pipe 70 mm will be put on passenger side. next 80mm single exhaust.
wish me luck
Jerry

are you doing a GN style manifold setup? One header crossover to the other, then to the turbo? A buddy did that on a 1995 3.8 v6 firebird with a 57trim t3/t4... ran low 12s. The turbo sat in the bottom passenger side of the engine bay, behind the rad and the IC hidden under the car with an air scoop.. real sleeper

my set up will be familiar in pipes routing as that on single turbo gs400:. one difference will be in down pipe routing (on that gs400 picture it is marked yellow "exhaust".
it will be put on upper side passenger side exhaust manifold rather than as low as in that gs400.

In sc400 there is no place for it as on gs400 cause we have diferent front suspension set up.

Radiator will be moved forward too cause I do not want slim electric fans. I want that fancy hydraulic fan set up still in my car. It ts good and efficient, simple hard to beat. why change something that so flawless work?
Just must move radiator few inches froward (and tilt it some for hood clerance) to make more room for single turbo.

you could have combined those pipes together near the manifold outlets and run them on the drivers side so you coulda routed your exhaust where that passenger side manifold outlet is running, but looks good.. cant wait to see it run.

PS:

make sure to wrap those pipes, they will get extremely hot and mess up ur rack

Way to go Jerry!!!! I have been following your work since you first bought that turbo and I love the fact that despite being only 1 of 2 SC's in Krakow (I think that's where you said you were), you are still willing to really get in there and do some serious custom work!!! Nice work on that crossmember and oil return fitting!!! I am seriously starting to wish I lived in Poland or you lived in NJ, USA so you could do this to me SC400 too!!!!

removing crossmember and oil pan: 2,5 hours.
cutting & welding :4 hours.
put it back: 2.5 hours

about costs: there in Poland job is cheap compared to US. I pay for everything (job and cutting, welding) about $180.

next time we will move both front radiators few inches forward (and tilt it some) to make more place for turbo. that lower bar at with sit radiator must be cut, refabricated and moved too. but that is easy compared to that crossmember job.
