a stuck or partially stuck open thermostat will also cause the problem.
the computer is looking for a certain coolant temp before it takes over control.
(closed loop operation) after a certain amount of running time goes by it won't wait
any longer. it sets a flag for the temp problem, uses a predeterminded temp value,
& uses the o2 for a/f adjustments. generally the car runs richer (safer) until the computer is reset & problem is repaired.
does the car seem to take longer to warm up than before? time for the needle to get to 1/2 way. are the upper & lower rad hoses equally hot after a short ride? if all seems normal, same as always. its probably the cts, coolant temp sensor for the computer. if it runs cooler, the thermostat's stuck.
the cts is a 2 wire sensor - its on the upper water neck on the gte, but i forget on the n/a.
hope this helps
