just got the k&n panel air filter(part num: 33-2054) and the damn thing doesn't fit!!! well, it does, somewhat, but not as good as the oem filter. when i measure up the k&n, it's a little larger than the stock and one side (could be a defect) bulges out a little which means unfiltered air could go through. even though the metal springs are suppose to hold the filter in place, i don't trust it especially since the filter likes to spring out on its own since its a little bigger.

the weird thing about it was when i ordered it online from summit racing, it said that 33-2054 fits 92-97 lexus sc400s and sc300s. but when the paper that came with the filter says it fits only 92-95 lexus (also 93-95 supra and 95 tacoma). i don't think any mod changes from 95 to 97 would make it different?

anyone have any ideas or notice the same thing? wondering if its a defect or it's just afternarket that doesn't fit(like most things for this car as i'm finding out, aka strut tower bar). was thinking about just putting on a cone filter but has anyone put one on a 97 and above? it doesn't need an adapter like he earlier models but do you buy a k&n cone filter with a 3.5" openning and just stick that thing on the maf or do you buy a 3" openning and buy a short aluminum pipe and reducer??? anyone had an experience?

Sounds like that piece of paper was printed in '95 or so,the same filter in my '92 SC400 fits our 2001 4runner.
Maybe you got a bad filter,mine seemed to fit alright.

I have the same part number (just installed) and it fits perfectly (93 SC400).

Are you also installing the "plastic cage" onto the air filter element? This comes in the box with the filter.
