That would depend on what transmission you are running.
If it is a manual, then all you need to do is buy the unit and have it mapped.
If it is an auto then you have a problem, the auto box ECU and Engine ECU are one and the same so it would need to be mapped for both the tranny and the engine. It could be done but mapping time (and cost) would more then double.

If you are going that route, please let me know how it turns out.

Plus the emanage ultimate is having problems with a 1jz .. I believe it's awaiting a firmware update to correct the problem ... or at least thats what I read on supraforums..
http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=301070
Jason over at Torquefreaks.com said they wired up a 1jz using a 2jzgte harness to AEM EMS...
Also this post on supraforums has a working AEM EMS
http://supraforums.com/forum/showthr...hlight=aem+ems
and you should be able to research more here:

I was planning on staying auto but upgrade the tranny so it can handle the power. Do you guys know of anywhere that upgrades the 1JZ auto tranny. I found a couple of places that upgrade the stock sc trannie but not the 1j auto trannie

The Supra tranny and the Soarer tranny are very similar (both are a340e's), the differences are very slight. One of which is the ability of the Supra tranny to lock the gear in 3rd (perfect for dyno runs)....
Speak to Kean at Boostlogic, I have before and he said it should be possible on the Soarer tranny, you would have to send him the tranny or a donor trans for the conversion.

What does having an auto or manual have to do with anything? WHen you purchase an AEM, it doesn't come tranny specific. It doesn't for the Supra. I'm running a AEM EMS in my car with the supra motor and my car was an auto and now a 6 speed.
There shouldn't be any difference with the trannys when using an AEM EMS.

The Supra and the Soarer tranny runs off the engine ECU, so it (the tranny)would need to be remapped via the AEM EMS.
It has been done already before on the Supra with an auto but not with the Soarer (not that I know of at least) It can be done though but as I said it would double the amount of mapping time and cost.
So yes there is differences .. not all Auto trannys are the same.
