Question J&S Safeguard --> detonation proof?!

http://www.jandssafeguard.com/

They have a specific unit for the Lexus SC300 . Does anyone have experience with these knock control systems or j&s company? If it does what it says it does, it seems like a nice way to safely boost 10psi on stock 10:1 compression and headgasket, while maximizing power.

I know the Pizzutos personally, manufacturers of the J&S. They are fantastic people. My mom worked with John at Hughes aircraft many years ago- he is a brilliant engineer and quite a gearhead. I have a J&S on my turbo MR2... but the engine hasn't been installed yet.

I do have some personal experience with the unit, having driven several J&S-equipped vehicles. I can tell you that it works. While it is no cure for an improperly tuned car, it works extremely well on tuned forced induction vehicles. Many of the Buick Grand National guys are running the unit, as was Abel Ibarra (it was his secret weapon for many years) and several other drag racing teams.

The unit is a freestanding, digital knock-sensing/retarding device that can actually determine WHICH cylinder is detonating- it will take timing ONLY out of the affected cylinders. I would not turbocharge a car without one of these! Highly recommended!!!!!!!!

I didn't see on there how much it costs? Any idea how much one of these units runs?

Thumbs up

May I talk with your friend about his experiences with the unit sometime? I'm interested in what circumstance he's used it, etc..
