saving up for a SC
I'm still trying to decide if I want to get an SC with a manual trans or an auto trans. I can drive both but I just don't know which one i want to get. any opinions would be great.

now that i have an auto SC300, i kinda feel a little upset that i do not get to enjoy it even more with the 5spd, even though i could've never gotten it in M/T, i will probably swap in a few years.

In this case think of what you want from the car. Auto means you can get a SC400, if you go with a stick you limit yourself to the SC300. If you want a stick then you want it for the sporty feel and in the stock form the Sc300 might leave you wanting more. BUT and this is a big but, the SC300 can also be turbod and if you were going to do that and have a stick turbo SC then that IMO is the best case scenario. I think if you are leaving it stock get an Auto SC4

It also depends where you live. In high traffic areas it would be hell to drive around a stick. Sticks are fun to drive, but I cant imagine driving a stick regularly in bad traffic. Thats why all my cars are auto. I would get a stick on TRUELY a weekend car like a NSX or something.

It all depends on your preference, I live in Queens and I routinely drive my car in heavy traffic. It's annoying at times but I wouldn't have it any other way. If I were to get an auto I would make sure the engine had a moderate amount of torque to make up for the lack of shift-it-yourself capability ---> SC400

I live in brooklyn and drive in traffic as well. I drove an automatic Altima after getting rid of my accord and I hated it. I felt as if i just didn't control the car the way I wanted to. Get a 5spd if you love to shift.

M.T. for me
If you want an auto, go with the SC400.
If you want a 5-speed, the SC300 is sweet and very close to the performance of the early SC400 v-8's.
Of course, if you are thinking upgrades, the path is very clear with the SC300 and the twin turbo Supra 2jz-gte. But that's another ~$6-10k doing it the right way.
Love my SC300-5sp

i got my sc not thinking i would want to go all out with engine work and suspension.but since i got mine i got the itch back.i currently have a 98 sc300 suto obviously and love it as my everyday car. i have a son and soon to be wife so i just don't want to be bother with the shifting sometimes.i am really debating on whether to pick up an older one for a project car. i love it

I agree with the others if you love driving and the feel of shifting go that way. But if you are thinking of moding and making some power you can go either way. I have a 97 sc300 auto with a t61 tubo putting done 425whp and I beat manuals a lot. In the end it will depend on what you want to do. Good luck.
