Question on sc400 gte swap.
i'd read that the GTE engine drops right into the sc4000 with custom mounts, is the driveshaft and electronics the major parts that need to be addressed?
I've always heard of sc300s being swapped, but never 400s, any reason?

The SC300 costs less than buying a 400 and also has a 5 speed option. Also the swap is more straight forward on the SC300.

I was researching this, and all the threads that came up in search, the only answewrs I really saw was some JA braying "search" heheeh.
that being said, I don't believe you need "custom" motor mounts, you use the same mounts you would if it was an SC3. Driveshaft I believe would depend on what rear end you use.
And Yes wiring seems to be the big sticking point, as you would imagine the V8 has totally different sensor requirments than the I6.
On the SCs does anyone know if the engine harness is seperated by a plug to the chassis harness?

for the same amount of money for a 2jz swap said and done, you could custom turbo the sc400 and more hp. give the v8 some love!
www.homemadeturbo.com
www.lextreme.com
also there are a few people here that gave me some tips, im still in planning stage of my setup.
but heres what he or she said, whoever posted this, thank you!!!!

I've always thought there would be room for a single if :
1)
you moved the battery to the trunk or got a small one
mounted the turbo in the battery tray area with the compressor inlet pointing at the driver side of the car
ran the downpipe under the motor and crossmember
ran the ic piping down to the IC then back up the other side
2)
you mounted the turbo in the intake area at an angle where the compressor inlet was pointing at the headlight housing
ran the downpipe under the motor and crossmember
ran the ic piping down to the ic then back up the other side
ran a super short intake
this could all be assisted by removing the fan shroud and getting 2 or 3 very hirpm electric fans with smaller shrouds

retrodrive has mounted a 2JZ engine in his LS400. Lextreme has played with mounting a single turbo on the SC400. The turbo had low clearance though and the battery had to be relocated.

Think JDM Soarer swapped a 2jzgte in his v8. The cross member is the same as SC 300. Swap would not involve any more work than if going into a SC 300. You should contact him. Search for a thread under soarer swap. He DISSPELLED the myth that the SC400 had no options besides custom turbo or Lextreme's supercharger project. Some would venture to say 2jzgte is a more straight foward project since so many have performed.
Anyways, it has been done according to the threads. No CUSTOM mounts.
