how will 2.0t get hybrid consumption? Thats not possible :-).
I dont see a way for 220hp turbo to get better consumption than NA 2.5l. If you meant average, which is 28 mpg for Rav4 as you know.
To make a better paper mpg, they would have to use small <1.6l turbo engine.
Or they could combine atkinson cycle with turbo but thats not going to give us 220hp then.
In any case, there is no magic with turbo's and consumption. So far nobody has invented it. This means that it will get better mpg than V6 engine but no way it can get better mpg than modern 4cly without a turbo as turbo cars run lower compression.

So how can NX2.0t get 30mpg? Not possible without hybrid.
If they get 26-28 mpg avg that will be good and a lot better than V6 that would get 22-23 mpg max. I can imagine that the NX will be heavier than Rav4.
But who knows, we will see... I just expect it to be a lot more fuel efficient in real life than old V6 Rav4, but also less fuel efficient than NA Rav4... just faster and more luxurious.

Lexus Designer: “LF-NX is a Lightweight Fighter”
The second issue of Lexus’ BEYOND Magazine will soon be published, and the Lexus International website has a preview of the feature LF-NX story:
“To use boxing terminology, the LF-NX is a lightweight fighter,” says designer Nobuyuki Tomatsu when asked to describe the latest Lexus concept car, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. “While cutting his weight down to the bare minimum required, he has developed muscles essential for competing at the top of his game.”
The LF-NX’s exterior styling is full of aggressive lines, muscular motifs and bold forms—innovative design elements it’s taken Tomatsu and a talented group of Lexus designers a significant amount of time to perfect. Using a 1:1 scale model, the team worked hard to refine the vehicle to its optimum form. “We tried every conceivable idea to sharpen its overall look as much as possible,” Tomatsu explains, “so you wouldn’t see even an ounce of ‘fat’ on the resultant shape.”
In all my years covering Lexus, I can’t think of another concept more polarizing than the LF-NX — it was like a full shock to the system. Looking forward to seeing it in person at next week’s Tokyo Motor Show.

Another 'concept' in LA, anyone think the actual production vehicle will be shown in Detroit with a release date soon thereafter? My reasoning is if the 4th gen RX follows it's previous release pattern, that would be spring of 2015 for the 2016 model. They also have the RC coming out in 2014. Releasing the NX in the spring of 2014 would put 1 year between 2 SUV's. On this and other sites they have shown several mules running around for quite some time. Seems as if it's ready to hit the street running. And would get the NX out before the Mercedes GLK and possibly before the Lincoln MKC.

Reliable sources say the 2015 RX is fully redesigned and upscale with the arrival of the NX. Also RX should be available late 2014

That kind of sucks but being the RX a 2009 vehicle (presented as 2010 MY) it was pretty clear that a redesign was due around 2015... but don't over think it, you got an awesome car and it was just upgraded with a very sexy look!

i am not so sure that RX will grow much, they wont want to mess with the formula... maybe they will have special 7 seat version thats longer?

I'm still so repulsed by this concept. I assume the production version will be much more palatable since its going to a volume model. Assuming the styling goes a little more mainstream, this should be a winner. I'm glad Lexus is pushing up the RX a bit, time to get out of that tweener segment and capture more sales with 2 models.
