Default New Zealand roadtrip, NX with trailer

I drove my NX300h F Sport from Auckland to Queenstown on the 24th December, helped my fiancee to move back to Auckland, I did the west coast of south island on the way down and on the way up I did the east coast, entire trip was was about 3800km/2400mile

here are some photos I took on the way.

Its summer here, the temperature in the lakes region of the South Island, New Zealand is between 25 - 35 Celcius , this is about 80-100 Fehrenheit?

The trailer was empty on the way down, the trailer itself weighs about 420kg/920lb, fuel consumption was between 9.5km/l - 9.8km/l, the road was very hilly

on the way up the car and the trailer was full. the fuel consumption is between 9.2km/l - 9.5km/l, the road was much flatter.

total load I would say 250-300kg (550-650lb)

You should be getting about 13-14 km/L but considering the hilly terrain and extra load, not bad.

Looks like you had a great trip. Thanks for the post and pics.

So, you're saying your total towing weight was 1500lbs? The max on the NX is 2000lbs, so since you were so close, and did so much hilly driving, I would recommend that you change oil, tranny fluid, and diff fluid (front and back). Reason being that you put a lot of wear and tear on the fluids and components in a high temperature. I would also recommend checking your coolant level. This is purely an insurance thing for future reliability, and should be done after any long term heavy (relative to max capacity) towing.

So, you had better fuel efficiency with a full trailer?

He's stating it as km/L so he's getting fewer kms with the heavier load. Makes sense.

You blue NX is amazing!

Mine still isn't here yet still next week. I think my NX will look similar to corrado's one though.
