Update: It's been a while since posting on here. I couldn't stand the color so I bought a black one. Tried slightly larger tires this time around (305/60/18) and it fit perfectly. Just a little trimming to the front fender liner and bumper clip but all in all I'm very happy with how it turned out. Also added a few pics comparing it to my Range Rover Sport (offroad mode) and my dad's Toyota Land Cruiser.

RRS: Even with a serious height disadvantage don't think the rover isn't a very capable offroader. Its gone everywhere I've asked it to.

Wanted to try out the new set of fj wheels with 285/70/17 Cooper SST tires. Overall the truck handled well but I am trying to figure out a way to get better flex from the ifs front. My friends shop is trying to convince me to go with a solid front axle but I think that may be a bit extreme.

If enough people are interested in a complete DIY writeup on how to raise their GX I will take pictures. Otherwise just PM me and Ill give you a brief rundown.

Smile Awesome!

Way to go man! Looks very aggressive! How does it feel on the Highway, or speeds above 55mph? How about the tires, they make alot of noise?

Thanks for telling me how to lift the truck! Your help and advice is Greatly appreciated here!

This set-up looks much better. The knobby 33's do it justice.

Thanks guys. I really like the look of the tires, but they are a little noisy, especially with the windows down. Too bad it wasnt raining I wanted to see how much of a difference these tires made in the mud.

Anyhow, I am kind of on the fence right now. I am debating between just leaving it as is, ditching the rear air bags and doing some minor fabrication to put some 4runner coil springs in the back, or going with a full fabtech 6" lift from an fj cruiser. That will allow me to run 35's with some pretty aggressive offset.

Now im pretty sure the last option is something nobody has done here in the US. Unfortunately it wont fit in my garage and ill have to start shopping for a daily driver.

Feels completely fine at any speed. A little tire wine but that's a "cool" thing here in hawaii...lol I think handling actually improved due to an increased spring rate that resulted from airing up the rear bags and the suspension spacer in the front. I noticed a lot less roll and wobble.

Tires look sick! Does anyone know if these tires will fit without a lift on stock 17s.

Ok thanks. That's what I was afraid of. Have you tried it yet or know anyone that has? I've see people running 32 diameters without rub, but this would be 32.7 or so.

I would love to see a DIY with pics!

Does your GX have KDSS?

BTW Great looking rig! I am not a fan of running boards.

I like to 285/70 17 look. I'm going with that size next. As far as lifting your GX. I know since you are a 03 (pre KDSS), it is a little easiler to lift.

1. Never use brackets lift. As they not really for HD rock climbing. They intended for looks.

2. Use the Prado first, FJ and 4Runner second for suspension upgrades. 700 lbs coils overs up front are the best for us. I'm running OME 660lbs plus coils in the rear.

Click on my build thread for ideas.

What's the total amount of lift you have there - in inches? And do you have a shot showing ground clearance, from the rear? Looks nice!
