Remote car starter for Canadian Models
#16
@jamiek, with any vehicle that has push button start, you are not purchasing a "remote starter" in the essence of the name. The vehicle already has that functionality. The point of the idatalink module is to mimic the presense of the fob by bypassing the encryption. To my knowledge, only idatalink has produced a module that is compatible with Toyota/Lexus's latest generation push to start (PTS). The use of any brand of remote (Compustar, Viper, etc.) will just communicate to the module to start. All you are getting is extended range and communication capabilities compared to the OEM remote.
According to idatalink, any of these "remotes" will be be compatible. http://www.idatalink.com/remotes/compatible-remotes

Oops, forgot to check, but then saw Computerwiz's post. We have the compustar remote starter.
My only complaint about the remote starter is the fob is rechargable. Guess what time it always decides to start beeping to tell us to recharge it. Yes, the middle of the night. The first time that happened I was up for half an hour checking the smoke detectors before I finally found the beeping fob in my wife's purse.

Just an FYI.
Saw a pamphlet sheet at the Lexus dealer today, Lexus+ Remote Start or something like that.
Said Remote Start to 800 meters using additional 2-way FOB and 80 meters with regular FOB.
Didn't specify what models it was available for but it would be self contained I would think, no cellular needed.

Canadian here... I had a viper smart start installed on my 2015 NX. The car can be started via your phone, or the OEM key fob by pressing lock 3x (submits to the range of the original fob)
There are other options as well,, Just ask any reputable car audio/dealer.

My dealer in canada said this summer some time they will be able to put the new two football field range remote starters in my NX. I would give them a call and see.
