Thoughts on installing the PRe-Crash system on an NX 300h?
Anyone have any thoughts on installing the pre-crash system, as seen on seawell, to a 300h on your own?
Here is what is listed at seawell:
8821078010
SENSOR ASSY, MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR PRECRASH SYSTEM-WITH (PBA AND PB)
Link to seawell page:

Just curious, as this is the one safety option I wish my wife's new NX 300h had on it but doesn't.
Thanks,
Phil

You're thinking of doing this yourself? If so consider wiring to pass into the dash, button to add, and so on. I believe the front L emblem also houses the radar and if so, your emblem may need to be replaced. It can be fairly involved and a little risky and personally I would ask my dealer or a 3rd party professional if they can install it.
Good luck!

Thanks Corrado, that is kind of what I thought after looking at it more. Do you think most dealers would do this as an add-on after the fact, or do you think they would shy away from doing it?

Remember that in addition to the physical wiring and sensor installation, the vehicle's ECU needs extensive software mapping to control the functions associated with the PCS. The system needs to trigger an alert, and possibly apply braking. I don't think a dealer would even be able to install this feature after production...
