Given your situation, pay $25 to have it removed completely.
Since you are attracting too much attention from the cops with nothing better to do, have 50% tint installed later. I have 50% on the front of my SUV and 35% on all windows front/back on my IS350, no problems in Fremont automall area where I have my Lexus serviced.

I was planning of giving Lexus of Fremont a try as well for service but I dont want to get stopped by the police either. I have tint as well but mine isnt super dark or anything.
Josh if you could forward me your contact at Steven's Creek that would be great.

Bummer, so you were cited and/or warned for nothing else?

I have 35% tint all around and haven't been pulled over. I'm mostly in Santa Barbara though but I am in the Bay area often with my car.
One thing I do if I see a cop is open my sunroof shade to let more light into the car. With 35% tint and an open sunroof, it makes the windows barely look tinted in the sunlight.
