blown engine 2002 75000 miles
I bought this Lexus used but has been service regularly since first owner, have records. I only drive maybe 6000 mile a year and have continued to service and change oil regularly. It started emitting blue gray smoke from exhaust and took it in. Mind you I only have 75000 on a 2002 and the engine is gone. They want between 3 grand. Can I go back to Lexus on this? I have all records. Thanks for any help. Jill

I would get a second opinion. Blue smoke usually mean raw gas is going through the exhaust. I would want to know why they think your engine is damaged. For better advice what year, make and model lexus do you own? You should post in the forum specific to your model.

It's a RX 300 and going through like a quart of oil a week. Did a oil change and filter. It's not dripping or leaking so trying to figure out what is up?

The blue smoke is oil burning in the engines combustion chamber. Most likely it is being caused by valve seals or piston rings. Less likley issue would be a crack in the motor/cylinder head/valve guide or a bad head gasket. This does not typically get labeled as a "blown engine" although it can still be a costly repair. One or two bad valve seals would be a much less expensive fix then a worn or damaged piston ring. I would ask for a much better explanation of there diagnosis. A blown engine is a very vague description.
