You're cordially invited to the Rallye Lexus AutoX Event @ Nassau Coliseum-08/09/08
WHAT: Rallye Lexus/NYRSCCA Autocross Event at the Nassau Coliseum
WHEN: AUGUST 9th, 2008
TIME: 8AM - RACERS | 10AM - SPECTATORS
WHERE: NASSAU COLISEUM
WHO: ANY NELOC MEMBER OR LEXUS OWNER
WHY: LET'S RAISE SOME MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH
Rallye Lexus has once again stepped up to the plate and is inviting the Lexus community (This includes any NELOC member or lexus owner) to come join them at the NYRSCCA Autocross Event at the Nassau coliseum on Saturday August 9th, 2008. This will also be a fundraiser, whereas all the proceeds will go towards cancer research and from my understanding will go to the American Cancer Society. So come on out for a good cause!!!
Rallye has also established an agreement with SCCA to cover the mandatory $10.00 license fee for participants who wish to race and all you will be responsible for, is the event fee of $35.00 which will also go towards their SCCA membership fee if you wish to register with them.
Here is some additional important info you should know in regards to the event:
Anyone who is competing needs to be at the site no later than 8:00 AM. They will need to register, take their car through tech inspection, and walk the course until they can't walk around it any more to learn where the cones are and how to navigate the obstacles. There's no way that anyone who has never been to an autox can do all of this stuff if they arrive any later than 8:00 AM. Also, anyone who is driving in the event is required to work a designated period of the event at a corner worker station. Basically, everyone who is driving needs to be prepared to spend the entire day at the Coliseum.
For non-drivers, should arrive after 10:00 AM. We are restricted in our contract with the Coliseum from putting up banners and stuff on the grounds, but you are more than welcome to arrive early and stake a claim to an open part of the paddock parking lot for your group to gather. Be advised that our events are non-spectator, which means that we don't charge those just watching for admission but do require them to sign an insurance waiver and wear a wristband while at the site. There is additional waiver paperwork for minors under 18, and at least one parent or legal guardian will need to be there to sign for minors.

I also just want to thank Billy for reaching out to us and making this happen for the Lexus community.
The only thing is we are limited to 50 slots/participants (racing) for this event. So if your definitely interested please sign up and I'll update the list accordingly. I will also PM the individuals who have signed up to confirm their attendance and update them on info as well.
So if you always wanted to push your car and have fun with it, this is the time to do it
I'll update the info as I get it so please check on this thread to see whats going on.

In regards to insurance, here's an update:
On the event date, there will be a mandatory novice session track walk that all novice student and some season veterans will attend, flag talk will be done during the drivers meeting to further explain what will be going on during the event and driving instructors will be on hand to help with novice drivers, FYI some of those instructors are national level competitors.
The bottom line is, all drivers on course are responsible for their action and must obey the course rules and understand flags. It’s up to everyone who is participating to make sure their safety and safety of others.

Since we are operating a non-spectator event, every single person who enters the site will be required to sign a standard liability waiver and be issued a wristband to show that they have signed. (Being a non-spectator event just means that we do not charge admission to watch, and require that everyone on the site sign the waiver whether they are driving or not.) This is standard in all forms of amateur motorsports
On the positive side, the SCCA dictates to us that a Solo event should be no more dangerous than commuting to work, and our courses are designed in such a way as to keep speeds equivalent to what everyone sees while driving on the street in most cases. It is extremely rare to see a car at a Solo event get out of second gear.
