Default 60K tuneup...

Used to the Maxima, not really familar with my new huge VVTI V8. So what would I need, (Platinum Plugs, Air Filter, PCV Valve). Also, whats the story with the fuel filter? or does the timing BTDC have to be checked with a timing gun?

Any help and a nice checklist of all the things I need for this tuneup would be great.

Your Owner's Manual is your best reference, then compare it to what your Dealer actually will want to do.

You can save a few bones by bringing in your own fluids (I do - synthetics), and other little things that you can maybe do yourself.

It's not a major major, but they do items like flush the tranny and cooling system, etc., so it should not be skimped on.

Also, try a Search. I'm coming up on mine, and have found discussions here regarding the 60K Service.

You know what would be helpful as well?

IF you've gotten the "Standard" or "Manual Recommended" Service done ... list where, when and how much you paid so we can do a comparison.

For example, I think there's quite a few people who could come up with a reason to drive a reasonable distance, possibly make a weekend out of it, and get their service done for cheaper.

My $0.02.

I predict I'm due for a 60K in April.

Don't forget, if you live in a dusty/dirty area, you might want to push up the air filter change interval. Not too familiar with the V8 layout, but in most cases it's an easy $20-$30 DIY that will help maintain performance.
