Question Good non-dealership mechanic Northern Virginia/DC

I had previously asked about a good body shop in the Northern Virginia/DC area, but I never thought of asking about jsut a general mechanic. Seeing as the Dealership wanted $600+ dollars to change the brake pads which I did for the cost of the pads and a torque wrench. I thought that they might be overcharging a bit.

So any thoughts as to a good/affordable place to get more advanced maintenance items done. Anywhere in Northern Virginia, DC or even southern Maryland is fine?

thanks,
mf

I've had VERY good luck with 355 Toyota in Rockville, 301-340-0900, ask for Dave Sloan Asst. Service Manager. They initially did a tranny flush ($99) for me and have since done a timing belt job to include all pulleys, seals, water pump, caps & rotors, and new belts ($900). They are MUCH cheaper than Lexus and get u good prices on Toyota parts

While your in the area, go see Royal Auto Body in Rockville, 301-424-4500 and ask for Raffi, they did some body work on my SC, the work was fantastic and they will "work" with you for maximum insurance coverage.

Good Luck,
JW

someone mention me?!?!?

mojofilter,
how flexable are you on service times? I can hook you up with a couple of toyota mechanics two of whom have plenty of lexus experience from Jack Taylor toyota. They do "side-jobs" that usually work out to be 1/2 dealer cost with ONLY toyota/lexus parts AND warrantee.

Like VQT said.. if you need help feel free to give me a call
