Question 1993 SC Trunk (won't stay open)

My SC300 (1993) trunk is malfunctioning. That is, the trunk will not stay in the open position; rather one risks a head or limb injury while trying to load the trunk. 1) What is the likely problem? 2) What is the possible $$$ cost for replacement parts? 3) Is this an owner type repair or is the dealer the option? Thanks, SARA.

Default

Don't have SC300 but I would guess...
1. Truck lifter arms
2. 2 arms at >$100ea. (call dealers)
3. DIY

Default A common problem with the SC- here's the fix info:

Every SC eventually has this problem- it is a $250+ fix at a dealership, or a $45 parts/30 minutes labor job if you do it yourself. Here's info on where to buy the new lift supports you'll need:

...and here is info on how to replace them yourself:
