timing chain or timing belt
hi! everyone i recently bought a used 06 gs 300 i was wondering if it has a timing chain or timing belt and whats the recomended milage when it needs to be replace. thanks!

If it is a non-interference belt, and I think yours is, there is no damage if the belt breaks - other than your car will stop running. I have had this changed in 3 cars - 2 in the LS and 1 in our current GS. Have always gone to 120K and the belts were still in good shape when changed...

later model year cars (typically after 96) are interference engines...
I know of people who have had timing belts go at 80k, and some that have never been changed at 150+ There is a '90 LS400 in our shop that the timing belt was changed in 2001 (can't make out the mileage on the sticker) and when we were doing some other work on it, noticed the belt starting to fray... the car is at 200k currently...
