The hamsters need a lot more care and maintenance.
Far as I'm concerned, you can go NGK, Denso, or TRD equally, or step up to the Torquemasters.

Jerry -- I'm coming up on my 90k and will be replacing the plugs. In your opinion (and I guess I know the answer), is it a waste of money to use NGK or Denso when for a little more money you can upgrade to TM? Also, do the TMs last as long as the OEM?

Hey e!
Well, performance wise, I'm getting better response from the TMs than I ever got from any stock plug, probably ANY other plug for that matter.
Longevity I don't know. I've probably only had them in for 10K miles. Longevity is always relative though. I tend to yank plugs earlier, as soon as performance drops off significantly. Many others will stay with the plugs until time limit, or they're so fouled that they have no choice.

Tell me you're not thinking about putting a non-stock plug in. I won't believe it if you are.

Seriously, I would stick with Denso Iridium (stock plug). It's a great plug. I don't think quite as much about the NGK Iridiums (had them in my Supra), but they're OK too. I think the TMs are really great when paired with the SRT intake. I wouldn't think a stock car really needs the marginally extra performance. We're probably talking about $12 each for TMs vs $8 each for Denso or NGK? Probably better off replacing Denso's every 60K instead of putting that money into TM's.

Jerry

I think this thread should only be responded to by those that have actually run both plugs in comparable situations-same car,etc...To give factual comparison results.

Just because someone used Denso or NGK and they liked it is irrelevant. We are talking comparison here, not if you liked a plug. Shove a banana in the spark plug hole and run a copper wire through the middle and some would say it's a good spark plug, but again ,nothing to compare it to. For those that have run both plugs and commented on them-that is the feedback that should be considered worthwhile.

i'm gonna try denso iridiums. i've always used ngk in my honda and it worked great. but,

1. denso has the world's finest core.
"...the narrower the centre electrode is, the lower the potential difference (voltage) that is required to jump the gap between centre and ground electrodes."

2. denso uses the u groove.
"...ground electrode which is claimed to aid in the production of a 'flame core' which further improves the combustion process."

3. denso is owned by toyota.

I picked up the NGK IX's for my GS400 because they were the cheapest iridiums and were available at my local autoparts store. $46 for all of them.

NGK's are cheaper than the Denso Iridium plugs. But I think the Denso's are better since TRD highly recommended them. I was using the IK20 plugs for my supercharged Corolla before.

I've noticed a very slight misfire under light acceleration lately and it feels like my car ('94 SC400) just may need a tune-up. It's been 44K miles since my last tune-up and I'm running the Denso iridiums. Could I be reaching the end of their service life? I thought I might try the NGK's this time. Anyone else been running the Densos for awhile like me?

Is there a difference between the NGK IX Iridiums and the OE Laser Iridiums? Or just marketing?

The OE iridiums will last much longer than the IX series iridium which are only good for 30 - 40k miles max.
