engine oil problem?
I have a bit of an issue here people. i have about 160k miles on my 94 sc3.. anyway, i'm 1500 miles into my last oil change and the engine oil light comes on.
I checked the oil drain plug and replaced that plus the gasket when i last changed it and using an OEM toyota fiter and both are tightly secured.
I just want to know the possible problems of it, i'm going to check it out in depth in a week or two and i just want to know what to look for to see if anything needs replacing or anything, thanks!

1. Check the engine oil dipstick. Exactly how low is it? For the warning light to come on in most cars, the level has to be pretty low. (At least 1-2 quarts less than full).
2. Are both the drain plug and filter still secure and NOT dripping? (Check from underneath). Overtightening of either can lead to broken threads on the bolt, especially as the metal becomes hot and expands while driving.
3. If yes to #2, it can be likely you have a pretty big oil leak from a bad seal in the engine somewhere (a mild leak will not lose enough oil to make the warning light come on in 1500 miles).
4. Oil can be burning off in the engine, but then again, that'll be a pretty significant burn-off if the warning light comes on at just 1500 miles.
Tell us what you find.
