Recently picked up the manuals for my 02 SC430. Looking to purchase a device to read the DTCs. The manual talks about Data lists, the ability to control sensors and other info that appears to be in addition to the DTC codes. Do the ODB software programs also cover these capabilities or are they only found in the toyota testing device?
Can anyone suggest where to get ahold of the toyota device or a good software program at a reasonable price?
Thanks

2500 is a bit steep. mainly looking to diagnost sensor issues. have had issues with the ABS and with the tire pressure warning lights. the dealer here in san jose (stevens creek) totally raped me...$225 to tell me the right front speed sensor was open. they wanted another $700 to replace it. $900 for a 1 hour job. sorry. 2 days later the check pressure light came on and the pressure is fine in all the tires. figure that will be another $500 minimum so got the manuals and it became appearent I need to check the codes.
Saw the $50 code check devices and they look like they will do the bulk of the work, but the manual also discussed data lists and I am not sure how important those are in the diagnostic process. Can anyone comment on that????? Was hopefully the software versions of the DTC checkers might cover the data list but it looks like they are just code checkers.
thanks
