Question about my 1990 LS400 related to a/c
ok so after 2 1/2 years of no air condition i decided to finally go ahead and get it for this summer because i know how hot it gets with leather and 100+ degree weather. they dont go well together lol.
anyways, i got my r12 converted to the more conventional one 134a. my licensed friend was able to do it. it's blowing cold air now! he was telling me the front fans(the ones visible to the eye when the hood is opened) are supposed to cut on as soon as the air condition is turned on. is this true? we let the a/c run on low for a little while, the needle on the temperature guage cluster remained within the middle and everything seemed to be alright. so my main concerns are:
is it normal for the fans not to cut on when a/c is turned on?
if not, what could be the problem? i checked the fuse underneath the kick panel and its correct amps and its a good fuse.
any information would be much appreciated. thanks in advance

The fans SHOULD run anytime the compressor is engaged. If you run the AC on LOW, the compressor will cycle when the temperature gets real low. This is to prevent freezing of components. The fans will stop at that time
As soon as cooling is needed again, the compressor will come on again, and so will the fans. If you ever see the compressor running and you DON'T have the fans, it won't be cool inside your car for long. The condensor in front of the radiator will get too hot, and there will be no liquid going to the expansion valve, which goes inside the car. YOU NEED THE FANS!
Run the inside blowers on a higher setting, and the evaporator inside the car will get warmer sooner, causing the compressor to come back on again.
Good luck.

thanks for the help. i will try it on a hotter day. maybe thats the reason the fans arent engaging???
well i turned the a/c on while i was driving and only cold air comes through the center right vent. all the other port vents blow kind of warm air like its low on freeon. i have no idea why. lol now is that due to the fans not turning on?
