Default Which service sked should I follow?

I have an 03 GX470. Dealer seems to want me to come in for every possible maintenance stop (They make good money). I dont drive in any bad conditions (dust, traffic, etc). What are the major services I SHOULD get and how often is evveryone changing their oil? I've been changing every 5k. Dealer says 3k (which is what I used to do) and manual says 7.5k.

Opinions?

I think time between oil changes is a factor too. If you drive 15k-mi/year or more, I think your 5k-mi/ oil change interval is what I would do. I only do about 10k-mi/year, so my oil change intervals are in the 3-4k-mi range.

I tend toward doing some things based upon time (e.g., coolant change, brake fluid change) and others based upon milage (e.g., tire rotation, A/C filter change). I think other things, like wiper blade replacement, depend on factors like whether the car is garaged 24/7 or left outside all the time.

From what I've read, the biggest over-serviced item appears to be transmission fluid. The owner's manual and even the dipstick (at least on my model) say it shouldn't be changed if it keeps it's cherry-red color.

That schedule is not what my owners manual says. Is yoour different or did you make that one up yourself?
