Looking to buy 2006 lx 470
Hi
I am looking to buy 2006 lx 470. The mileage us around 50k mile. Fully loaded the seller asked for $30k
I have several question I appreciate if you can help me before I buy
1. How bad is mpg? Combine? When car get older , does it become even worse ?
2. Is it quiet on highway? Does it have wind noise? My current one Acura mdx is quite noisy on highway, that is the main reason I like it to be replaced by a Lexus
3. When 2nd row fold down , can 2nd and 3rd row become flat? I like to sleep inside the car when going for camping?
3. After 50k mile, do I have to pay a lot of maintenance fee?
4. How is the drive quality when compared to Acura mdx ? Mdx is doing pretty good on highway.
5. How is the performance in snow . My friend had one subaru and it did quite well in snow . But lx479 is version of land cruiser. So I expect it to be amazing in snow performance . Is it correct ?
6. For buying a used one with 50k mile, what should i check when buying ? Check list please ?

I get 15.5 mpg in my '99 with 240K miles. There are too many factors that affect fuel mileage, the main one being the driver. As with all vehicles, mileage typically gets worse with age. With that said, I feel like mine is doing quite well with nearly a quarter million miles on it.

Super quiet and comfy. This can be determined for yourself by driving one.
3. When 2nd row fold down , can 2nd and 3rd row become flat? I like to sleep inside the car when going for camping?
Thrid row folds against the sides of the vehicle. Second row flips forward so yes the floor will be flat. Check one out and you'll see what I'm talking about.

As with all vehicles, there are certain mileage intervals that require more maintenance so the cost will be higher for those. For example, the timing belt is due at 90k so that service will be a bit more expensive than some of the others.
4. How is the drive quality when compared to Acura mdx ? Mdx is doing pretty good on highway.
Drive one and you'll see for yourself. Only you can make that comparison.

Excellent in snow. Given the heavy weight and the all wheel drive, it'll go most anywhere you want it to.

Typical used car stuff - maintenance records, check fluids, push every button, switch, light, etc from front to back and top to bottom. Test drive and listen for squeaks, rattles, clunks, etc. Check under vehicle for leaks, rust, etc. Check tires for even wear. The list goes on. Have a pre-purchase inspection done by a dealership or independent Lexus/Toyota shop if it makes you feel better. As the owner where they had their service done and contact that place and ask for maintenance/service records.
7. How is the reliability ?
Toyota LCs and LX 470s have proven to be ultra reliable vehicles. It is not uncommon at all to see them with 300,000+ miles. With that said, there are always exceptions. Doing the research before buying is really important. Go over the one you're looking at with a fine tooth comb along with the service records.
