I have a 2000 LX with leaking rear shocks and 125k miles. I found the Lexus part numbers 48530-69107 at a local dealer for $191.37 each. I also purchased 2.5L of ACH fluid for $40.79.

The ACH system works fine and except for low fluid level in the tank, has no problems.

Should I drain and replace the ACH fluid from the whole system?

What is the bleed procedure?

Do I need to get any O-rings or other parts before I start?

And, anything else that I forgot to ask???

I have a 2001 LX 470..At 80,000 miles (four years ago) the fluid was low... I was told by the dealer that the rear shocks were leaking and the actuators valves needed to be replaced...The cost to repair was $595 for parts and $600 labor ($1195 total)...I had the car checked out by my mechanic....He informed me that I did not have a problem...the fluid in the tank was low due to normal wear and tear..This fact is also mentioned in the owners manual...I bought the fluid from the dealer and added about 12 ounces to bring it up to the normal level... The AHC takes a special fluid....I have 123,000 miles on it and the level is perfect.........I hope this helps...I would suggest you get your Lex on a lift and have it carefully inspected.........Have a great day.

I had it on a lift and the bottom of both rear shocks are covered in grease. Maybe I should take the new shocks back, clean the old ones, replace the ACH fluid in the tank and just keep an eye on the fluid level.

When I thought I had leaking shocks, I priced them at AutoZone...I believe they were $40.00 each............Dont no if replacing AHC fluid will improve ride, but I believe in the old saying IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT...If your shocks are leaking, replacing might be a good idea...........Hope this helps...Last year my ignition cylinder jam snapped...Part $200 plus $400 labor...HAD TO B TOWED made of pot metal...VERY POOR >>should be a recall item, but it is not..........

The $40 shocks are for non-ACH systems. No aftermarket companies make replacements for the Toyota ACH shocks.

But I do think you are right about not fixing what ain't broke.
