Disable Power tilt and Retract on Steering Column?
Does anybody know how to disable the power tilt and retract on the steering column? I saw the thread where JChow had his disabled at the dealer. Is that the best way to get it done? It does seem pointless and un-necessary.
Thanks.
Thanks.

As I've just purchased a new-to-me 2002 LX I decided I should read the manual. On page 101 of the 2002 LX470 owner's manual it states the auto tilt away function can be deactivated and to ask your dealer for details. I intend to do just that tomorrow.

I just checked with the local Toyota dealer after talking to the Lexus dealer 135 miles away on doing this. Lexus dealer said $30. Toyota wants $40! I thought it was supposed to be cheaper at Toyo!!

Negative! My Toyo dealer charges $150/hr for labor (only 2 Toyo dealers in a town of 1 million, and this is the cheaper/larger of the two), Lexus dealer charges $100/hr (2 lexus dealers in town, both the same owner), plus you get the free loaner and free gas!

Jim, that's about twice the rate as our Toyota dealer charges. They're actually good people and do good work in the service department if out Camry Hybrid is any indication. They told me last year when I was looking at an LC I was thinking of buying that was near the 90k service that it would run $800-900 for the belt and water pump and other usual items. I was just surprised Lexus was cheaper on this item. I'd take it to Lexus for its future servicing but they're two hours from here so Toyota or an indie will do the future servicing.
