98 LX470 low beam replacement bulb
I am having a difficult time finding a replacement low beam bulb for my 98 LX470. Parts retailers direct me to the 9006 halogen which does not fit. ( My owner's manual says 9006, too.) However, my dealer says the product is a Lexus only bulb with no generic number for replacement. Is that true? Is there anywhere I can get a replacement?

After talking with Lexus again, I was able to find a generic low beam replacement. The bulb was known as an H1 bulb. It was selling for about $34 at the dealership, but in typical excellent Lexus service fashion, the parts dept. said to ask for an H1 bulb at any parts store and they would likely have it. I did just that and got the bulb for under $7. Thanks for the reply.

I just did mine
My 99 470 just blew a low beam bulb.... I went to Pep Boys and looked it up... the replacement bulb is a Sylvania H1 - 55W ($5.99) ... but I bought the Sylvania upgrade to the Sylvania H1 ST.... ($39.00 for the pair) but they ARE slightly brighter and have a whiter look WITHOUT the "blue" tint..... and a.) DO NOT disconnect the battery.... just remove the bracket and slide the battery as far as it will go torward the fan.... b.) unscrew the large protective caps, pull off the clips on the bulb and frame, release the spring... pull the bulbs STRAIGHT OUT, take note of the notch location on the bulb, reinstall..... literally 10 minutes....
