Replace Overhead DVD Player - 2011 LX570
hi - we just bought a 2011 LX570, and the flip down DVD player doesnt show any video, so it looks like it needs to be replaced. Has anyone gotten this replaced? or can i just get an aftermarket flip down and have my husband replace it by himself? my kids want the drop down instead of just using a tablet, and if its an easy fix, we'd like to do it.
thanks!
thanks!

From your description are you sure the DVD does not work. Many of these were never used and just hang there. Have you tried a DVD and followed the instructions to get it to run?.
i know three of my LX units had this and I never used one single time.

LOL, we only used our DVD with the wireless headphones something like a total of less than 6 times in our LX570. The LX570 came with it all loaded and the price discount we negotiated was with everything in it. We found out as our teenage kids get older, the DVD is so "OLD SCHOOL/DINOSAUR " to them versus something like Netflix or YouTube streaming. And in SoCal we pretty much get unlimited high speed 4GLTE data cell service. If our kids were a lot younger, I guess the DVD will get a lot more uses.
I think if you follow the instructions in the car manual, it will most likely work. Also I wonder if the prior owner had done some modifications to be able to have live streaming to show on the screen via cell phone?

Make sure you try the remote control. My 2011 came with a remote in the rear arm rest. Last time we used it, my son had to do something to make it work. It started with a black screen. (My kids use laptops and iPads more often. However, the DVD is nice for a Red Box rental on a long drive.)
One more thing to test: you should get a picture from your DVD on the front Nav screen if you are in park with the emergency brake engaged and screen in audio mode. Park and emergency brake are required unless you buy some kind of modification device. You should be able to verify whether the DVD player is working at all.
