2011 rear door/tailgate power open from outside
Hi. Hoping someone can answer a question. I just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
Looking for some clarification.
Thanks,
Jason

It only unlock, you need to raise the liftgate up yourself. Unlock by the remote, the gate will raise up by itself.
It is the same as my Honda Van, so it is normal.

Everything about his are is risk-managmenet gone over board to the point of absurd. I bet they were afraid a kid would be hit in the face by the rising tailgate. Other risk management over-reach aspects of design:
- Navi, settings, phone, messages not be available during motion (while changing bluetooth devices pops a paragraph of text you have to read and agree or decline)
- Window lock even locking the front passenger side controls
- Failing to use the LCD screen in the cluster to display other useful info, like music/station info
- Inability to turn on the radio without keys (for fear that kids drain the battery -other cars have a timer cut off)
- Intermittent rain activated wipers being just a tad too quick, especially in drizzle and during low intensity rain
- 5 gallon reserve tank (though this could be due to the poor MPG) low fuel light
- Album art so tiny on USB in case you actually might be tempted to see it
