Dumb to go to 00 LX from 08 RX Hybrid?
My wife has an '08 RX hybrid with 128k on it. Great condition. My buddy is getting ready to sell his 00 LX with 180k on it. Granted, the majority have been road miles as he commutes multi-state with work. I've just always liked that LX body and the additional room. My wife doesn't put many miles, just mainly kids stuff and this isn't our main or travel vehicle.
All that being said, would it be dumb to dump our newer RX and she take his LX? We enjoy living way below our means and having unique vehicles as opposed to new ones. The great thing about the LX is most people don't know if it's a 2000 or a 2012. Plus, money wise, we'd sell the RX for double the cost of the LX. We had a 97 LC and just love the flashbacks this one brings of that truck...always loved it!
Guess I just wanted some opinions. Thanks guys!

It looks to me like you've already made up your mind.
Personally, I'd dump the RX in a minute for a well maintained LX...ask "buddy" if he's done the timing belt / water pump stuff due at 180K.
RX's are a dime a dozen...zero panache.

very different vehicles. like you, we always crunch the numbers and it often makes great sense to buy a fundamentally reliable older vehicle like the LX...i wouldn't hesitate if you want a rock solid roomy SUV
