Default presenting the DSRTWGN . . .

I bought this LX450 on a whim in the summer of 2013.

It came with just short of ~150K miles, factory lockers, and Supercharger and OME lift already installed. It also had an air lift system for towing and wiring for a satellite radio, both of which have since been removed.

and since it lives in the desert, and the DSRTRDR name is already taken for my '72 FJ40, it got the DSRTWGN plate

as you can see, it gets taken offroad

the first big tour was at the Arizona-Utah border over Thanksgiving last year - pretty remote

then came the CB, a Uniden 520, and Firefly antenna, as recommended by the Firestick company owner himself

the tennis ball is on the antenna to prevent marks on the body when the antenna gets jerked around by tree branches or wind gusts

Awesome - a real sleeper unstoppable truck!

I guess you don't need armor in the desert - seems like with rock sliders you could really power over any terrain...

these things are heavy to begin with and gulp quite a bit already (the supercharger does not help in that department), so a few hundred pounds more will not make that much difference in cost of fuel for a truck that is not a daily driver

skid plates are not regularly needed as other areas typically make contact before the underbelly does, like the rocker panels, control arms, differentials - but typically, the good aftermarket sliders also come with protection for the catalyzers (which are expensive to replace)

encountered a check engine light: PO510 code "closed throttle position switch" - tested it according to the Factory Service Manual, switch has gone bad

installed a replacement pilfered from a Land Cruiser that is being parted out

got the light again two days later, same code - so another replacement was pilfered from a low-mileage rolled Land Cruiser yesterday - so far, the check engine light has not come back
