2000 LX 470 starter motor
Just had to replace this today, including gaskets. It came to around $885. after I asked for and got 10% off. $335. for the starter and the rest for labor.
Not cheap, and it probably would have been less at a Toyota dealer.

You can get a new OEM toyota starter for around $200 from toyota-parts.com. Replacement is an afternoon job...most of the job is spent pulling off the intake manifold and disconnecting all those hoses. The starter contacts are what have worn out. Replacement contacts and plunger run $50.

Guys the best bet with repairs is to find a good mechanic to save money. I have a great mechanic only uses original parts and he is Toyota/Lexus certified with over 15 years of experience. And here is the kicker 50% less on labor over my local Lexus dealer.
