Default Special TPMS for Custom Rims?

I purchased a set of 20" Savini rims and took them, along with the tires and these TPMS sensors to the Toyota shop to have them mounted and balanced.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121420867494?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
The service tech just called me and told me that because the valve stem mounts in the center, that I needed a different TPMS sensor that lies flat on the rim. He says that if I use these sensors, that if I have a flat, it will crush the sensor.

This is all new to me, so I thought I would ask if anyone else has ran into this problem, and is there a different sensor that I should use?

Thanks

Tee and/or CJITTY most definitely would have some great insight.
I think Shibumi would as well...
Good luck!

If the Savini s are like the weds Kranz 2 piece 90 degree valve stem they won't fit. Google PIAA tpms adapters they might work better. (Sorry on my phone, linking sucks) I made some out of 1.5" aluminum stock from home depot, if you find stainless stock might be more sturdy.

Either use a tpms strap that goes around the inside of the wheel...Looks like a long hose clamp. Or have a place that works on wheels drill you a valve stem hole on the inside of the wheels. My wheels were ordered with an extra set of holes for the tpms sensors

Yeah I have adapters for my savini they use a regular valve stem and the tpms just sit in the adapter in the wheel.

Will check with the wheel ships Monday to see if they will drill the extra holes. Closest shop is 50 miles away.

Will this strap set work? If so, I will just order it. This will be easier than trying to find a shop that will drill the holes.

Thanks

Can you give me a link to the adapt it's that you'd purchased?

Thanks

I personally don't recommend you buying the strap kit because those will make your tpms spin when the wheel rotates. I had this problem on one set of wheels and it would throw the wheel off balance. Best thing to do is find a shop that know how to drill extra hole for the tpms this way it'll sit perfectly on your wheel.
