I got the attached warning today on my 2010 LS600. The pedal felt a little soft after the warning. It kept popping off and on, dinging every 30-40 seconds.

I checked the brake fluid, it was full. Car has 36k

I had it towed in to Lexus and they couldn't get the warning to come back up.

Anyone else have this?

Here is the warning I got.

Parking brake system, if it's the same on a 600H as a 460 is separate and apart from the regular braking system. As such, your feeling that the pedal was "soft" would seem to be more of a perception that something was different because of the warning message you saw.

The parking brake is an electro-mechanical system that uses "old style" brake shoes that grip the inside of the rear brake discs. Activation is via a servo motor at the rear of the car.

My guess is that it didn't fully release when you put the car into gear. Assuming the tow driver drove the car up onto the flat bed - when the transmission was put in Park, that put a nice "load" on the brake shoes given the angle of the incline. When the car was removed from the tow truck at the dealer, the brakes fully released and the problem didn't reoccur.

If it happens again, try cycling the parking brake manually - push on the button to set the brake, then pull on it to release.

Possibly there's some grit or corrosion that's preventing the cables and/or brakes from releasing fully/smoothly.

Did the message appear after engaging or disengaging the emergency brake? Or while driving?

Well, they couldn't replicate it. I engaged and disengaged the parking brake probably 10 times before it got towed. Still got the message.


They returned the car to me, all seems well. I will keep an eye on it. I did get s low battery warning on my smart start, called the dealer and said, your running my battery down!
