Default Test drive: what to look for or pay attention to ?

So, i will be making the move for my LS460L 2010 awd 85k miles next week before buying it.

What should i pay attention when test driving it, what kind of test should i do to verify different components of the car (suspension, wind noise...)

For the mechanic inspection, what should i tell the mechanic to focus on ?

thank you very much in advance and hope that all goes well

-Drive over some bumpy road and listen for hard rumbles in the suspension and body rattles.
-Safely take it up to 65-70 and brake hard, listen to and feel the brakes.
-From a standing stop do a very slow gradual acceleration. You shouldn't be able to tell the transmission is shifting without looking at the tach.
- From a standing stop accelerate very quickly. The shifts should happen rapidly and engine revs should not be excessive, i.e. staying in lower gear too long..
-Have mechanic check the control arm bushings.
-Check that the car was never in a flood.

Those are the only issues to worry about when looking for a good used 460?! Lol must be nice! Then again I guess these cars really are not old enough to have infamous famous and known problems unique to this model and the age of it. Try tracking down a nice 20+ year old Ls400! It's a royal ***** trying to find one that isn't shot to hell!

Literally test every single button/feature!! I picked mine up out of state..was looking forward to 700 mile drive home and realized there was an error with my radar cruise control...after I bought it! Had I known that day after the test drive, I could of had it fixed before I left, so I couldn't use cruise all the way home FTMFL!! TEST ALL BUTTONS!!! Test HVAC..test every damn thing..get the point? Good luck! !

This includes drivers and passengers memory seating buttons, all chair adjustment will/should be tested when you test this, the "hold" button, etc. . .

I didn't test anything. Since my old Lexus was bulletproof, I just bought the car in 5 minutes after looking at it.

Drive the car slowly (5mph) in a parking lot and brake gently. Listen for knocks, clunks, when the car stops and rocks slightly back and forth - bad control arm bushings or shock absorbers. Listen for a non-metallic clicking when applying the brakes - brake actuator. Drive on a smooth freeway and note any vibration at any speed from 30mph to 80mph - that could be a whole host of things from wheel balance (road force balance - relatively cheap and easy) to control arms/shocks/steering rack/wheel bearings (V expensive). And checks every switch and setting - it may take you a couple of hours but ANYTHING that goes wrong with the LS is expensive!

I have found it is a good idea to "Google" the VIN. Some very interesting information occasionally comes up.

Make sure recalls have been done. Look underneath the car for any signs of oil leakages, weeping etc.

I checked the carfax supplied by the dealer, everything is ok., no repairs, replacement done one time, oil change ok. I only found one recalls for the 2010: Recall ID # 86894 - STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

I will print this thread and test all the necessary. I remember when i bought the ES350, 15mins of test drive and its done, but the car has 34 000km.

I've already plan some $$$ for any upcoming repairs since i plan to keep it to the car's die, pray that it is as liable than my present ES350 2008.
