Warped rotors for sure. Had the same issue a month or so ago. If the steering wheel shakes, then it ain't no mistake: Its warped rotors. Cheesy huh?

Fixed mine myself by replacing them with upgraded rotors and new brake pads. Less than $200 bucks. Pulling the rotors on an LS is crazy easy......

You can pull them and replace or have a shop turn them for way less than the $200 I paid for replacements.

I have a 2007, single owner, with the same issues. I have replaced the rotors, replaced the ABS controller. The technicians at Lexus on the Park, Toronto have worked on it several times. Luckily, I had the dealership store the car for a few months and my salesman drove it and experienced the same vibration. Now, maybe it will be fixed. It is very frustrating to have such an annoying problems on an otherwise wonderful automobile.

Terry48:

UPDATES???

I am about to replace my rotors due to vibrations when braking. Be nice to know if I need to be looking at other causes.

I too had this issue on my 2008L, resolved the issue by replacing my front rotors (also replaced the pads).

I had noticed this issue shortly after I had done an emergency brake which the ABS kicked in and saved me from rear-ending the car in front of me.

I just ordered a set of Bendix front rotors on Fleabay for 30 bucks each with free delivery! LOL.

Should have them installed by the end of next week. I'll post pics and a DIY write-up .

I have to have the rotors turned every 20000 miles. Interesting to me was when I complained to my dealer about it they said the weren't any hard spots on the rotors. It indicated to me that they knew Toyota was having problems with their rotors.

Per an indy mechanic who used to work at the Lexus dealer, he's seen quite a few warped rear rotors... fwiw

Well, I guess I'll know when I install the fronts next week. If my shimmy persists, I'll go ahead and replace my rear ones. Cheap and easy.
