possible interior defect?
Hi Guys/gals
I'm looking to buy an ls460. I checked 3 vehicles so far. All from SoCal from between Irvine and LA. All three vehicles had issues with the material near the door jam. The material seem to be bubbling like it was exposed to extreme heat. see picture point to the area that i'm talking about
Is this common? Is it because it's too hot in SoCal? First car I looked at I was like ok. Maybe it was the previous owner, but my friend checked out two other cars for me and they both had the same problem. Some worse than others.

That is caused by the seat belt buckle hitting the trim..a fix was implemented in 2008 to replace the B Pillar garnish with a new design that doesn't have the "step" anymore..its flat and smooth. My 460 had that replaced under factory warranty..otherwise through dealer its $700!!

It was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB)..some service advisors are cool and will order the new piece..but they have less leeway the further you are out of 4yr/50k warranty

You should provide a better picture. From what I can see, it looks like its already been replaced by the TSB. The old style was more of a corner shape that match the arm rest on the door. If its already been replaced once, they will not cover it again. You might want to check before purchasing the car... Good Luck with you purchase.

I had mine replaced with the TSIB. They will replace it with a piece that tapers in for less dents and scratches. It will still get damaged but still nice to have a new one. You can also call a mobile upholstery repair place like FIBRENEW and they can fix it very very cheap. The last option is to point it out to the dealership and they will call their own interior repair people. This is an easy fix.
