Mystery switch? 2007 ls460 SWB
I was fitting a bluetooth audio streaming kit to my car today, upon removing the side leather trim pieces i noticed this small round switch, It seems to be running into the dash i didn't trace it too far.
It could have been something added by previous owner but the car was 100% stock according to the dealer.
I live in Ireland so mine would be an EU/UK spec RHD model
A couple of possibilities:
Anti theft device
Ejecto Seato
Nitro
Self destruct
Summon chauffeur driver

It is definitely an aftermarket device. Lexus (or any automaker, for that matter) would not leave wired buttons hidden behind the transmission tunnel trim. The only way to find out if it does anything is to push that button after you start up the car. Be sure to wear your seat belt first ! Let us know how it goes...

Check if there any obvious changes in the performance of the vehicle or systems like headlights, tail lights, radio, Nav, AC, interior lights, etc. when you push the button and hold or toggle back and forth. Have a passenger do this while you are driving and checking various systems. Any radar detectors or other aftermarket kits on the car? The black and red wires suggest that it is switch supplying power to something. If nothing turns up, you are going to have to pull apart the central console to trace the wire back to its source. That would give you some idea of its function. For all you know, this switch may be inactive. There are Youtube videos on removing the central console and the Nav/Radio head unit, so this should not be too difficult. Good luck!

so i started to trace this today, as i was trying to fix the gap on my glove box. I traced it from drivers side of transmission tunnel, under the center console and over to the passenger side footwell. Here it seems like its spliced into a wiring loom on the passenger sill. (small black loom in picture running down the bottom of image) I'll chase it some more tomorrow, the mystery continues!

I wonder if it'll trace to a flux capacitor and some sort of special black box that will let you communicate with aliens.
Haha, kidding - but let us know where it goes.
