2010 LS 460 Sport Brake Issues
12m miles now, started having squealing issues around 10m and is is not 10 times worst. I am almost to the point of trading the car. It has been 3 weeks since Lexus field tech took 6 videos and audio clips of the vehicle. Has anyone else had and issues and had no resolution? This happens between 10 and 35 mph.

Welcome to the world of performance brakes.
Porsche owners have long suffered the annoying and embarassing brake noise especially noticable before coming to a complete stop in situations such as traffic lights.
Performance does come at a price. In case of brakes, the price is monetary as well as the noise.

I have a 2010 LS Sport as well and have not had a major squealing issue with the brakes. I do have an occasional squeal but not that bad and certainly not enough to have me complain about them. I did find that they wore out pretty fast which is characteristic of high performance brakes. I had them replaced at about 14,000 miles - but I have a heavy foot and am pretty hard on brakes. The other issue was the cost (which I expected) and the lack of avaialbility (which I didn't). It took Lexus almost 3 weeks to get in the replacement brakes.
I assume that you've had them inspected and they're not worn to the point of needing to be replaced.

At slower speeds when braking while going between 10 and 35 then braking is when I really have the issue. This means in the city about 80% of my driving. I have friends with performance cars and I have owned them myself and have never had an issue like this. it is so annoying at times I just want to trade the car.
Yes went to the dealer and right now they have done nothing for me. If you read the thread it explains the vehicle was at the dealer. 14m miles and new pads, that is crazy. My M3 never had that type of wear.

I have performance brakes my car, they lasted 30k and I still had probably 5k more left. If you are in the city they will last half that. It's very possible because of the brake squeak they changed the pads just for that reason and they may have had another 10k to 15k left. City driving is the most harsh on brakes.
Squealing pads are not normal on standard or high performance systems. It sounds that you brake a lot and the rotors are glazed. The rotors HAVE to be cut when new brake pads are installed or they will squeal. My rear rotors could not be cut, they caused a squeal and they were replaced under warranty.
What really squeals are the brake pads themselves. The brake pad pins and the edges of the pads HAVE to be greased with anti seize compound or anti-squeal compound or they will eventually squeal.
This is pretty basic brake stuff......I'm very surprised the dealer is having problems.

I am too. It is a joke how it is being handled. It is like since they are Brembos they cannot touch them. Then question is why even put them on the car.
Not only that the lack of communication and the lack of knowledge of the product from Corporate down, has left me angry and actually fed up with Lexus.
Went from a GS450h for 3-4 years to an LS460, was actually going to buy a BMW but since I got a great deal on the LS sport after I had a GX nightmare, I am done. The LS460 was a little too big for me to begin with, I like the car but I just test drove the new 535i and for the money I am going back.
I have had 7 BMW's and this is really this is my 2nd Lexus. I am working on a deal to go back to BMW. Actually my Lexus contact is helping me out because he understands my frustration.

FYI - my inside connection called me Friday late afternoon - there is a fix - there are two sets of pads made with shims - I am getting the first set in the US. Oh well I ordered a 550i on Friday - traded my ls460 -

I'd be interested in your opinions on the new 550i after driving it for awhile. Good luck!

brake noise is like wind noise. It frustrates the crap out of the owner and makes you seem unreasonable when you mention it repeatedly. When I had noise with my GS350 they simply replaced the brakes under warranty. I am sure they can do this for you as well

They have new pads with shims being sent in from Japan so it is an issue with the pads , but after 2 months of this crap and not having Lexus support I am done. I wanted a BMW anyway and bought the LS460 Sport just because the GM is a buddy of mine, like the car but the new 550i is unbelievable.
