sound when braking
I just picked up a LS460 last week with 12000 miles and was wondering if a sound I'm hearing while holding the brake is normal. The brakes aren't pulsing or anything but while stopped and holding the brake I hear a kind of a knock sound. If I use the hold I don't hear any sound.
any assistance / guidance is appreciated.

umm, could it be that you are not depressing on the brakes hard enough then? the ls460 has sensitive brakes (due to ECB), so by pressing it a bit, you are stopping the car pretty well already. but sometimes if you are not pressing hard enough, the brakes are actually marginally stopping.
i don't know if that's the exact cause, but the fact that if you press harder there is no sound, it seems like it has to do with brake pads?

hmm, interesting, is it common to have the brake pads replaced at 12000 miles? BTW, thank you for responding. I think I'll take it in to a mechanic friend to evaluate the sound prior to taking it to the dealer.
