Default Owner response to LS 460

I have been involved with Toyota in Europe for 5 years now and have been active on various related forums for all of that time.

I have followed launches of every vehicle Toyota/Lexus introduced since 2002 (which is many!).

And I have never, never seen such good new owner response as to LS460. I have never seen sooooo many people estatic with their cars. It is amazing.

Congrats to everyone owning such awesome vehicle!

That's only natural, Lexus is now separated from Toyota, has its own design team and they lauched an excellent sedan. It's bullet proof and has more gadgets than any other in the same class. And it's all easy to use. This is the best luxury car on the roads right now, hands down.

Simply put, Lexus knows how to treat their customers well. The LS pampers its target market nicely. It works very well for most Americans that want to be pampered in their big luxo car.

Now, if people don't think the LS is all that, you're not part of that target market. Lexus has a specific group to which they advertise, and that may not include (a) fans of European suspension and handling and (b) oddly enough, the Japanese market. Oh well, you can't please everyone...

comparing to the GS, IS, and ES launch, i think the LS launch is very well received by most. looking at the ls430 forum, back in 01/02 and 04 refresh, i didn't really see the kind of excitement and involvement.

the ls460 forum is growing so far i am surprised, considering that this is a car usually for "older" people. but before it hits dealership we already saw a lot of people asking questions, and also people putting down deposits. now we see owners popping out left and right/

this is awesome

I agree, by developing the new style, Lexus is now attracting a whole new generation of buyers. Boxy square cars were popular in Japan in the 70s and 80s only, and to be honest Lexus took a while to figure that out. But boy did they fix the problem! I can only imagine what they'll come up with next, once the LS style is 3 or 4 years old.

Hopefully they will take another page from the Germans handbook and extend the life cycle of the car. That is one thing that protects brand equity and owners tradein values. The 2GS is a perfect example of a good design withstanding the test of time (1998-2005 same design). To be honest even though the 3GS is on the streets, the 2GS still looks very fresh. I hope they run this body for at least 6 years or so.

Your 100% correct. I am amazed at the number of "looking for wheels" threads in this forum, it wasnt even this instantaneous on the 3GS forums (people modding brand spaking new cars).

I think the design and the Long wheelbase options were great ideas. I really want to see what this car is going to do to the sales of other luxo sedans (S550, 7series, A8, etc)

You know what man, so far the owners are alittle more conservative, so both orderes are 20". When we get a 22" order I will GLADLY process it!!

Given the demographics for this car, I don't think LS460's with 22's will ever be a dime a dozen , we will see some in this forum though.

I think 22s would look waaaaaaaaaay too pimpy for this car. You would have to offer a gold/diamond Lexus logo for the front grille and a huge gold neckless too. Come on, this is not an Escalade. Not that I don't like how the Escalades look with 50" rims, but the LS-460 with 20s is already pushing it.

The whole "finesse" about these cars happens when you look at them and the attention grabber is the car itself as a whole, not just the wheels. Several times I see GIANT rims in cars and IMO it looks just plain stupid.
