Default European Handling Package. What to do in 2007?

Back when I was in the market for an LS430, I decided to order a car with the European handling package. I found that the ride of a normal Lexus was closer to a soft American luxury car than I could tolerate. The European handling package with normal steel belted radials offered just enough stiffness to make the handling just about perfect for my taste.

According to everything that I've read, the LS can no longer be ordered with a handling package. The salesman at the car show suggested the air suspension in the L model as an alternative (which I think comes in a touring package).

Can anyone comment on this idea? I really don't want to buy a 460 with a normal, soft ride, and would consider an L if the air suspension tightened up the suspension and eliminated body roll.

Thanks
Chris

Touring package is new "sportier" version of LS, so yes, it handles better than other versions...

I traded in a 430 w/ sport package for a 460L w/ TP, which includes air suspension. By setting the air suspension on sport mode, the handling is much much better than the 430 ever dreamed of being.

Won't be doing a 460 this year. Stopped by a local dealer. Ls are not shipping in any quantity until spring of 2007. The dealer has a huge waiting list, is selling every one at retail, and has a backlog of orders that won't be filled until next year.

Of course, I have no idea if he was blowing smoke, but it sounds too much like it's a seller's market.

I do find it annoying that I have to pay a $10,000 price premium to get an LS that doesn't roll like my grandfather's Cadillac. :-(
