The piece that u slide to release for the key . U slide cap and take it out. Need 3 fingers. ! to slide it. ! to hold it open. ! to pull it off. Hope u understand this. Sounds complicated i know. Hope this helps.

I noticed that one of my smart keys will only allow me to start the car with the key in it.

U definitely need a battery. Go to a Toyota dealer, they sell them and will install it for u.

make sure it is a smart key and not a valet key. they look alike except for a small car with the trunk open on the smart key

Yes, I agree. I was just thinking about that. I will check when I get off of work.
That would suck that the dealer didn't provide me either another valet key or another smart key.

Well, the other spare key has the trunk emblem on it so I definitely don't have a valet key.

I removed the battery from my Smart Key and noticed it was a 2025 button battery. The key calls for a 2032 button battery which I installed.
I found removing the slide release was difficult using two hands since the action of pulling the slide back also has the same action as pushing in so I used a small flat head to push the slide back and pull up.

The CR2032 is slightly thicker than the CR2015. Both are 3V. The numbering scheme for these batteries are 20mm (first 2 digits) diameter. The last 2 digits represent 3.2mm and 2.5mm thick, respectively for CR2032 and CR2025.
