Default Audio, Climate and Nav Stopped Working

Everything was working fine this morning on my '02UL until I made a stop. When I restarted the car, the audio, climate and nav were not working. The screen came on with the tan Lexus logo and the acknowledgment screen but then went blank. When I turn on the radio, it says "audio off". When I turn on the climate, it says "check air conditioner" connection.

I need to check the fuses. I have a feeling that it may be related to the Vais unit or the harnesses that it is plugged into, so I may disconnect it. Does anyone have an idea on the air conditioner connection? Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Your symptoms are odd. Does not sound like a fuse to me. I would pull the Vais unit and see how she acts. You also do a soft reset by pulling the negative on the battery for 15 seconds.

At the risk of jinxing the solution, I believe I have solved the problem. I disassembled the center stack and checked the Vais cables. Applying pressure to a connector and using a small flathead screwdriver to lift the locking tab on one of the other connectors, I was able to reestablish the connections. The audio, climate and Nav all returned to normal, for now at least. If it happens again, I will probably replace the Vais cable and go from there.

I don't have the VAIS unit, but mine is saying the same thing. How hard was it to remove the center stack?
