Considering 04 LS430 - Need Inspection [SoCal]
First post, but not first Lexus. Had an '03 IS300 from 2007-2009, and now looking to join the family again.
Took a look at a 2004 Flint Mica LS430 UL with 90k miles and the interior is mint, as good as new, exterior has a few nicks and blemishes. Car has a full service history, including the 90k service just being done (looks like the tstat & water pump were failing in the notes, which prompted the service). Thing would make a perfect daily.
Only thing that wasn't working perfectly was the driver mirror, it was having a hard time adjusting - folds just fine though. Rear driver-side door weatherstripping looked like it needed a little TLC. Everything else seemed to be in working order (door closers, smart keys, rear seats, rear air, touchscreen, etc.). Going through the service records the rear shade was replaced and the ML amp was replaced.
Now, why I would want to get it inspected and the only catch to this car:
The front bumper and hood definitely look to be repainted, super easy to spot with the metallic being off. Couldn't find the VIN on the front bumper, but did find it on the hood and fenders. Fenders didn't look to be touched, and none of this is on the service history for the car. The paint quality is definitely average, and makes me want to get it inspected to see if there is any underlying damage.
Does anyone know of a solid shop/mechanic to inspect the car in SoCal? Or should I just take it to a nearby Lexus dealer?

#1. sounds like you have concerns about the body of the car, not the mechanical condition per se. thus try yelping a reputable body shop for vehicle inspection. most mechanics cant give you the details that a good body shop can or will.
#2. for mechanics, all depends on where in SoCal the car is located. I personally don't trust many lexus dealers on their cursory inspection. look into the socal specific forum on CL for mechanic recommendations. some may charge 100 and some may be free.
FYI, I live in SoCal and bought an 05 UL with 120k miles Jan 2014.

If you do decide to have the car inspected, Mike over at Lexology in Redondo Beach is a former Master Lexus Tech that serviced both of my cars to my complete satisfaction.
