thoughts on cars approaching mid 150,000 mileage

Ok, one last attempt at this and this is plain and simple math and doesn't take anything else into account. You said you drove 6,500 miles since October 5th. At a combined 30 mpg. That's 217 gallons of gas. Where I live its $2.27 a gallon today for regular so that's $493. Driving the same miles in the LS at a combined 20 mpg it would use 325 gallons of gas and premium is $2.51 today so that's $815. $815 - $493 = $322 divided by 11 weeks (since October 5th) and that's $29 a week. There's an average of 4.33 weeks in a month so $29 x 4.33 weeks is $125 a month is total fuel savings.
The fuel savings is not paying for your car and putting money in your pocket. It's great that you love your new car and the only one that matters is you but I think you need to fix your calculator.

Let the guy be, he enjoyed the switch. You don't have to be shoving numbers in and out. He likes the switch thinks it's right thing to do and probably efficient for him.
Doing very detailed math does not really apply to the real world. In the end, it's what makes him happy and comfortable with.
