I noticed something odd when cleaning up the engine bay a little today. I took off the top intake air ducting and it looks like someone drilled 4 holes close to where the air initially enters the engine. Does your intake have these holes as well? It looks like maybe they were drilled to let water or snow to drain out. How weird.

The 4 holes seemed to be standard... My air cleaner inlet has the the same 4 holes there!
